Build a picture of the fault

We start with the symptoms, vehicle specification and available service history. The agreed investigation can include fault codes, live data, inspection and testing appropriate to the condition of the vehicle.

A fault code is a starting point. Gearbox hardware, hydraulics, control software, the engine and related driveline components may all be relevant.

Useful details before the assessment

  • Whether the symptom happens cold, hot, under load or during a particular shift.
  • Warnings and fault codes, preferably with the original report.
  • Recent fluid work, repairs, tuning, tyre changes or battery issues.
  • Whether the vehicle can move safely or needs recovery.

An explained next step

We discuss the findings and proposed work before progressing. That may lead to servicing, a targeted repair, valve body work, a converter assessment or a rebuild. Investigation and repair scope are agreed for the vehicle.
